Next Generation Optical Networking Congress 2018
The 26th of June: SM-Optics will be participating at the Next Generation Optical Networking Congress 2018 with the launch of a new platform targeting this space. During the congress second day Stefano Schiavoni, head of sales in sm-optics, will hold a speech addressing the A, B, C of new metro networks and how optical micro-nodes and WSS-free micro-ROADMs are redefining the metro network (link), while on the third day Giorgio Cazzaniga will hold a speech on next generation packet optical transmission (link).

For those who are interested to enter into the technical details, or explore further the application with real cases scenarios we will also present a pre-congress workshop during the morning of the first day, dedicated to operators only, targeting the new optical micro nodes market segment and its adoption for 5G ready network, as well as fix/business applications, and how to address the expected 10 fold capacity growth with a fraction of the costs.

The A,B,C of a new metro network: highly interconnected, neat and SDN centric:

  • The drivers of a new metro network
  • micro-nodes: growing adoption of OTN full flexible nodes with WSS-free micro-ROADMS
  • Network transformation: complete decommission of legacy with micro-OTN technology
  • Homelight: an SDN centric vision of automation
